Chương 1

"""The first sound Clara heard was the sharp crash of the hospital door opening behind her.

She tightened her arms around the newborn baby wrapped in the white blanket and turned toward the sudden movement.

The tiny room that had felt safe only seconds before instantly became filled with tension, fear, and a silence that felt heavier than words.

The older man standing in the doorway looked like someone who had carried years of anger into that single moment.

His bald head reflected the cold hospital lights, and his dark suit made his presence feel even more intimidating.

His eyes locked onto Daniel, the man standing beside the hospital bed, and every person in the room could feel the confrontation coming.

Daniel had expected questions, accusations, and maybe even rejection, but he had not expected the rage that entered with Richard.

Richard stepped forward without saying a word at first.

His fists tightened at his sides as his breathing became slower and heavier.

Clara immediately moved closer to the bed, shielding the baby with her body as if she could protect her child from everything happening around them.

The older woman beside her, Eleanor, held the white document against her chest and watched the two men with a worried expression.

She had known this moment would come someday, but she never imagined it would happen like this.

Daniel looked at Richard with a mixture of confusion and anger.

He had spent years avoiding this exact confrontation, but he knew there was no escaping it anymore.

Richard walked closer until he was only a few feet away.

"You really came here thinking you could hide this?" Richard asked in a deep voice filled with years of pain.

Daniel swallowed hard and kept his eyes on the older man.

"You have no idea what you're starting," Daniel replied, trying to keep his voice steady.

The room became completely silent except for the quiet beeping of the medical equipment nearby.

Richard grabbed Daniel's shoulder suddenly.

Clara gasped as Daniel immediately pushed his arm away.

For a brief second, everyone froze.

Then Richard's anger took over.

His hand moved quickly through the air.

The sound of the impact echoed through the hospital room.

Daniel's head turned sharply from the force of the strike.

He stumbled backward, catching himself against the edge of the hospital bed.

His hand slowly moved to his cheek as shock replaced anger on his face.

A red mark began forming where Richard's hand had hit him.

Clara looked down at the baby and then back at Daniel, unable to believe what had just happened.

"Stop," Eleanor said loudly.

Her voice carried through the room with authority.

"Everyone is watching."

Richard stood still, his chest rising and falling as he stared at Daniel.

Daniel did not move for several seconds.

The pain on his face was obvious, but the deeper wound was the betrayal he felt in that moment.

He looked at Richard as if trying to understand how someone could hate him so much.

"You came here to hurt me?" Daniel asked quietly.

Richard's expression did not change.

"No," he answered.

"I came here because you already hurt everyone else."

Clara looked between the two men.

She wanted to understand what they were talking about, but the only thing she cared about was keeping the newborn safe.

The baby made a small sound, and Clara immediately looked down.

Her expression softened for a moment as she gently adjusted the blanket.

That small movement reminded everyone in the room that there was an innocent child caught in the middle of their conflict.

Eleanor slowly stepped forward.

Her hands trembled slightly as she held up the document.

"I didn't want it to happen this way," she said.

Richard looked at her, his anger shifting into disappointment.

"You knew this day would come."

Eleanor lowered her eyes.

"I knew the truth would come out."

Daniel stared at the paper in her hand.

His face changed as he realized exactly what it might contain.

"What is that?" he asked.

Nobody answered immediately.

The silence itself became an answer.

Clara looked at Eleanor with fear growing in her eyes.

"Tell me what's happening," Clara whispered.

Eleanor looked at the baby first, then at Clara.

"The truth is already here."

Her voice was quiet, but every person in the room heard the weight behind those words.

Daniel stepped forward despite the pain on his face.

He wanted answers.

He needed answers.

"You don't get to walk in here after all these years and destroy everything without explaining yourself," Daniel said.

Richard moved toward him again.

This time Daniel raised his hands defensively.

Clara immediately stepped between them.

"Not in front of the baby."

Her voice cracked with emotion.

The anger in the room suddenly collided with the reality of what they were doing.

Richard looked at the newborn and his expression changed slightly.

For the first time since entering the room, his anger showed a small sign of hesitation.

Daniel noticed it.

He noticed everything.

"You came here because of her," Daniel said.

Richard looked away.

"No."

His answer was immediate, but nobody believed him.

Eleanor held the document tighter.

The hospital room felt smaller with every passing second.

Every person carried a different version of the past.

Clara carried fear.

Daniel carried guilt.

Richard carried anger.

Eleanor carried a secret she had protected for too long.

The truth waiting inside that document had the power to change every relationship in the room.

Daniel touched his injured cheek again and looked at Richard.

"I deserve to know why."

Richard's eyes became colder.

"You deserve to know everything."

He took another step forward.

The tension returned instantly.

Daniel prepared himself for another attack, but Richard stopped.

Instead of raising his hand, Richard pointed toward the document.

"Read it."

Eleanor looked at Daniel.

Her eyes were filled with regret.

"I should have told you years ago."

May you like

Daniel slowly reached toward the paper.

Clara watched him carefully while holding the baby close.
