Senate Democrat Arrested for Allegedly Threatening President Trump

Washington D.C. — A man from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, who is running as a Democrat for the U.S. Senate, is accused of threatening to kill President Donald Trump and a member of Congress. Raymond Chandler was arrested Friday morning in Pittsburgh by FBI agents and the United States Secret Service.
Court documents detail the alleged threatening statements. Chandler reportedly left a voicemail on April 18 for an unidentified member of Congress. He allegedly said to consider how 1,000 people would pull the person out of their house and slit their throat and their daughter’s throat.
The affidavit states that he followed this by saying this must happen because wealth concentration in the country has become so severe.
On April 29, Chandler allegedly left another voicemail stating to put a firearm to the President’s head and pull the trigger to kill him. He reportedly called President Trump a liar and the antichrist.
Representatives for the congressmember contacted authorities after the voicemails became increasingly violent. Chandler posted a YouTube video as part of his campaign for the U.S. Senate seat. In the video, he announced his intention to challenge Senator John Fetterman in the 2028 election.
His campaign website outlines priorities such as taxing billionaires, expanding social programs, regulating Big Tech, and abolishing ICE.
The arrest occurs amidst increased concerns about threats to public officials. Just hours before his arrest, Chandler was active in his campaign.
No further details regarding the charges or court proceedings have been released at this time. The case contributes to ongoing discussions about political rhetoric and safety.
