ICE Detains Families of Iranian Elite in US Crackdown
Seven Iranian nationals connected to the Tehran regime, including five previously reported by The Post to be living lavish lifestyles in Los Angeles, have been targeted for removal from the US as part of a broad State Department enforcement action.
One notable case involves the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, known as “Screaming Mary,” who was a spokesperson for militants during the 1979 US Embassy hostage crisis in Tehran.
ICE agents apprehended her son, Seyed Eissa Hashemi, along with his wife and child this week after The Post published details about their lifestyle in Los Angeles.
His family initially reported him missing before authorities confirmed his custody.
Just one week prior, two other Iranians linked to the deceased general Qasem Soleimani were also detained.
Hamideh Soleimani Afshar, 47, and her daughter, Sarinasadat Hosseiny, 25, had their green cards revoked on April 3. Afshar is Soleimani’s niece, while Hosseiny is his grandniece.
Afshar had publicly supported the Iranian regime in online posts, including praising its leadership and expressing anti-American views.
In a separate incident, Dr. Fatemeh Ardeshir-Larijani, the daughter of a high-ranking Iranian official, and her husband, Seyed Kalantar Motamedi, were also removed from the country due to increasing political pressure.
5Ardeshir-Larijani had been an assistant professor at Emory University’s Winship Cancer Institute in Atlanta before facing criticism for her connections.
This coordinated enforcement is being led by Rubio, who aims to prevent individuals linked to the regime from living in the United States.
The Trump administration has prioritized removing anyone connected to the anti-American regime, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio stating that the US "will never allow America to become a home for foreign nationals tied to anti-American terrorist regimes."
“America can never become home for anti-American terrorists or their families – and under the Trump Administration, it never will,” he said.
